SPORTS SCOPE: Josh Allen plays NFL football the right way

I’m a Steelers fan, so naturally, Josh Allen isn’t exactly someone I’m supposed to be cheering for.

But I’ll admit it: there’s something about the Bills quarterback that makes him incredibly easy to root for.

Allen has become one of the NFL’s biggest stars, but he still plays like the kid who is just happy to be on the field. That’s probably what stands out most to me. There’s no shortage of polished superstar athletes in professional sports, but Allen still seems to genuinely enjoy playing football.

And maybe that comes from where he started.

Allen wasn’t some five-star recruit with every college program fighting over him. He had to work for his opportunity, and once Buffalo gave him that chance, he completely changed the narrative surrounding him.

The way he plays is another reason. At 6-foot-5, he’s not afraid to lower his shoulder, scramble for extra yards or take a hit to make a play. There’s an unpredictability to his game that makes watching him fun. Sometimes it works beautifully. Sometimes it doesn’t. But you always know he’s going to compete.

What I also respect is the way he handles the tough moments. When Buffalo falls short, Allen has consistently taken responsibility rather than looking for someone else to blame. That matters.

And while I’m never going to cheer for the Bills over the Steelers, I can appreciate what Allen represents.

He’s competitive, emotional, tough and, most importantly, he still looks like he loves playing the game.

In a league full of superstar quarterbacks, Josh Allen still feels like a football player first.

And that’s pretty easy to respect.
