Plane diverted to Sunport following odor incident

A plane was diverted to the Albuquerque Sunport due to an odor incident that took place on the plane.

The flight was headed from LAX to JFK Airport in New York on Sept. 9. According to the Sunport, the aircraft experienced an in-flight mechanical issue and diverted to ABQ out of an abundance of caution.

The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers deplaned.

Delta said in a statement: “We apologize to our customers on Delta Flt 958 (LAX to JFK), which diverted due to a smoky odor in the aircraft. The aircraft landed uneventfully and we are working to reaccommodate customers as quickly as possible."
