Man struck, killed on Florida's Turnpike, shutting down southbound lanes, FHP says

A man was killed when he was hit by a car on the Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade early Wednesday, authorities said.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near Southwest 216th Street, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

At one point, all southbound lanes of the Turnpike were shut down, but they reopened by about 6:30 a.m.
According to FHP, a Honda Civic was going south when it hit the man, who was "standing outside of his vehicle which was stopped on the right emergency shoulder."
The man, whose name has not been revealed, died at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
