Gamecocks tight end, Cross alum Caden Ramsey arrested

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) — South Carolina freshman tight end Caden Ramsey was arrested early Monday morning in Moncks Corner.

The Cross alum faces a charge of racing on a public road. He was booked at just after 4 a.m., according to Berkeley County Jail.

An incident report is still in the approval process, according to Moncks Corner Police.

South Carolina officials said in a statement, “We are aware of the situation with freshman tight end Caden Ramsey and take matters like this seriously. We reserve further comment at this time.”

The school usually suspends players automatically following an arrest, but there’s been no confirmation that’s happened in this case.

Ramsey played six snaps in the Gamecocks season opening win over Kent State. After the game, he was named the team’s Offensive Scout Player of the Week.

A star football and basketball player at Cross, Ramsey was a two-time All-Friday Night Lights 1st team selection in football and a three-time 1st team selection in basketball by Live 5 Sports.
